Activist Malala Yousafzai selected as UN Messenger of Peace.

For those who do not know, who Malala Yousafzai is:
- Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist who encourages female education.
- She is currently just 19 years old.
- Malala is the youngest ever Nobel prize laureate.
A famous incident involving Malala:
On the 9th day of October 2012, a gunman from Taliban shot Malala when she was returning home from Pakistan’s Swat Valley in a bus. At that time Malala was just 12 years old. Furthermore, the gunman fired a bullet at her which went through her head, neck and then ended up in her shoulder.
She returned to stable condition on 3rd January 2013.
What actually is UN Messenger of Peace?
Only special individuals can be UN Messengers of Peace. The messengers work for a duration of three years. Some famous Messengers of peace are Jane Goodall, Michael Douglas, Charlize Theron, Leonardo DiCaprio etc.
The job of the selected messengers is to promote the activities of the UN. The Secretary-General is the one who appoints the Messengers of Peace.
Youngest-ever UN Messenger of Peace: Malala
The Secretary-General of the United Nations(UN), Antonio Guterres has decided to make Malala Yousafzai the UN Messenger of Peace. Its an highest honor given by the chief of the United nations to a global citizen.
When asked over his decision to select Ms. Yousafzai, The Secretary-General said that he was impressed by the way Malala supported the rights of women, girls and all the people even when she was in danger. Her work towards educating the females has inspired a lot of individuals around the world.
Malala is the youngest-ever UN messenger of Peace and Antonio Guterres thinks that she can help in making the world, a peaceful place.In addition, The Secretary General of the UN wants the issue of “Female Education” to spread in various parts of the world, especially in Asia, Africa. Where, even today girls aren’t allowed to go to school but are told to help in household chores.
There is going to be a formal ceremony on the 10th of April for Malala. After the ceremony, Malala Yousafzai will be meeting Antonio Guterres and other representatives. The agenda of the meeting will be “Education for Girls”.
Malala’s main focus will be towards educating girls.
According to us, Mr. Antonio Guterres has made a “wise decision”. Malala is working towards educating girls and she has a lot of support from the people all over the world. As a result, giving her the opportunity to become the UN Messenger of Peace is applauding. This is going to be profitable for the UN as well as for the citizens of the world. In conclusion, we agree that the issue of “Education of girls” is in safe hands of a teenager named Malala Yousafzai.
