Bharat Ratna, the nation -Maharshi Nanaji Deshmukh was a former social worker and RSS veteran and veteran campaigner, who had done social restructuring in more than 500 villages of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Apart from this, he was a veteran and oldest member of the RSS; Shyamas Prasad Mookerjee, along with Bajpai ji, had established the Jana Sangh and was one of the senior members of the Bharatiya Janata Party!

He was born in Parbhani in Maharashtra on October 11, 1916.

He played a significant role in the Bhadan movement, run by Acharya Vinoba Bhave! Also played a significant role in Jayaprakash Narayan ji’s “Total-Revolution”

It is also credited for the spread of National Volunteer Sangha in Uttar Pradesh!

In just three years, he had started more than 250 branches, which is still working!

You must have heard about Saraswati Shishu Mandir Schools which are run by the Vidyabharti Salt Vahini of Sangha.

So he established the country’s first Sarasvati Shishu Mandir in Gorakhpur!

Keep in mind that today 17,396 Saraswati Shishu Mandir is being run across the country!

He had won the Lok Sabha election in 1977, but when he was 60 years old in 1980, he had resigned so that the new youth got the place. So selflessness has become a landmark nowadays!

In honor of his service and activities,NDA offered him to become member of Rajya Sabha in 1999 and also gave him Padma Vibhushan!

Nanaji Deshmukh’s main working area has been restructuring rural India! In addition to social restructuring in more than 500 villages of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Deenayal Research Institute was established in Chitrakoot.

Nanaaji, the first rural university of India, “Chitrakoot Gramody University”, was founded and he himself was the first Vice-Chancellor!

He died on February 27, 2010!
